ReliaQuest, an MSSP and eXtended detection and response (XDR) platform provider, has acquired threat intelligence company Digital Shadows for $160 million.
This is technology M&A deal number 517 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.
The acquisition combines ReliaQuest's XDR capabilities with Digital Shadows' digital risk and threat intelligence technology, the companies said. It will enable security operations teams to use ReliaQuest's GreyMatter platform to identify and respond to cyber threats in real time.
A Closer Look at GreyMatter
GreyMatter is a vendor-agnostic XDR platform, according to ReliaQuest. It provides a unified threat detection, investigation and response workspace to help security teams reduce false-positive alerts and reduce risk.
Security teams can use GreyMatter to conduct threat detection, investigation, response and resilience activities, ReliaQuest said. They can automatically collect data across security tools and identify security gaps across on-premises, hybrid and cloud environments.
In addition, GreyMatter offers pre-built incident response playbooks, ReliaQuest stated. It also offers context into cyber threats to help security teams mitigate these threats at machine speed.
ReliaQuest Adds to Its Leadership Team
The Digital Shadows acquisition comes after ReliaQuest in May 2022 appointed Mike McPherson as its SVP of security operations and Regina Marrow as its CIO.
McPherson leads ReliaQuest's global security operations team, the company indicated. He previously served as a special agent at the FBI and managed the bureau's cyber, national security and criminal investigations across Central Florida.
Marrow is responsible for ReliaQuest's global internal systems, digital transformation, infrastructure and technology initiatives, the company stated. She was the managing director for advisory services at Ernst & Young (EY) and held technology transformation and executive roles at Accenture; both EY and Accenture are Top 250 MSSPs.
ReliaQuest offers threat detection, threat analysis and incident response capabilities to global organizations. It also provides a partner program that lets organizations use GreyMatter in combination with various security tools.
